The project is ramping up with <\/span><span style=\"font-family: times new roman, times, serif;\">some new opportunities and challenges in this post-pandemic era. There is renewed interest from some<\/span> <span style=\"font-family: times new roman, times, serif;\">of our previous members along with the continuing recruitment of new divers. Conversations with local<\/span> <span style=\"font-family: times new roman, times, serif;\">residents in June made it apparent that divers and non-divers alike are very interested in Goodenough<\/span> <span style=\"font-family: times new roman, times, serif;\">Springs and want more details about this incredible natural resource, so we\u2019re making a concerted effort <\/span><span style=\"font-family: times new roman, times, serif;\">to post a lot more information here for public consumption. We are adding some new (and older) trip<\/span> <span style=\"font-family: times new roman, times, serif;\">reports that provide specifics about our work as well as some incredible tales. Please take a look around <\/span><span style=\"font-family: times new roman, times, serif;\">at the new content, and be sure to come back as more come online.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><span style=\"font-family: times new roman, times, serif;\">Before I go I would like to mention the drought conditions being experienced in the areas surrounding<\/span> <span style=\"font-family: times new roman, times, serif;\">Amistad (and across much of the nation). Since the beginning of March, the lake has endured a <\/span><span style=\"font-family: times new roman, times, serif;\">precipitous fall in lake level dropping 16 feet in just the last 6 months! In fact, the lake is now at its<\/span> <span style=\"font-family: times new roman, times, serif;\">historic low since the original dam construction in 1968. At this time nearly all of the boat ramps on<\/span> <span style=\"font-family: times new roman, times, serif;\">Amistad are closed to motorboats with only Rough Canyon remaining open. Launching at that ramp <\/span><span style=\"font-family: times new roman, times, serif;\">requires a 50-mile round-trip boat ride to dive at Goodenough causing significant logistical issues. In<\/span> <span style=\"font-family: times new roman, times, serif;\">spite of these difficulties, we are planning more diving there this summer while simultaneously hoping <\/span><span style=\"font-family: times new roman, times, serif;\">for LOTS of rain in the recharge zones.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><span style=\"font-family: times new roman, times, serif;\">We\u2019d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions so drop us a line.
